China's Humanoid Robot Landscape: 15 Companies You Need to Know in 2026
The Humanoid Gold Rush
2026 is the year humanoid robots went from lab curiosities to commercial products. Tesla Optimus, Figure AI, and 1X dominate Western headlines — but China’s humanoid ecosystem is at least as active, with over 15 companies developing bipedal robots.
Here’s your map to the landscape.
Tier 1: The Frontrunners
Unitree Robotics (宇树科技)
- Product: H1 (full-size humanoid), G1 (compact)
- Funding: Series C, $100M+ valuation
- Status: G1 shipping globally at $16,000
Unitree is the closest thing China has to a Boston Dynamics-style viral sensation. Their H1 humanoid can run, jump, and dance — all captured in videos that have millions of views on YouTube. The G1 brings humanoid robotics to a consumer-accessible price point.
UBTECH Robotics (优必选)
- Product: Walker S, Panda Robot
- Funding: Public (HKEX: 9880)
- Status: Walker S in pilot production
UBTECH is the veteran, founded in 2012 and now publicly traded in Hong Kong. Their Walker S targets industrial and commercial applications — factory floors, warehouses, and service roles.
Fourier Intelligence (傅利叶智能)
- Product: GR-1, GR-2 humanoid
- Funding: Series D, $200M+
- Status: GR-2 announced 2025, pre-orders open
Fourier started in rehabilitation robotics before pivoting to general-purpose humanoids. The GR-2 features 54 degrees of freedom and a unique modular actuator design.
Tier 2: Emerging Contenders
Deep Robotics (深度智控)
- Product: Lynx (quadruped), X30
- Focus: Quadruped robots for inspection and security
While not strictly a humanoid company, Deep Robotics’ quadrupeds are competing directly with Boston Dynamics’ Spot in the industrial inspection market. Their Lynx platform is deployed across Chinese power grid and oil/gas facilities.
AgileX Robotics (松灵机器人)
- Product: Mobile robot platforms, robotic arms
- Focus: Research and developer platforms
AgileX provides the “chassis and arms” that universities and R&D labs use to build custom robots. If you see a Chinese university robotics paper, chances are it was built on an AgileX platform.
Galbot (银河通用)
- Product: General-purpose humanoid
- Funding: $100M+ Series A
- Status: Early prototype stage
Galbot is one of the newest entrants but with serious backing. Founded by former iFLYTEK researchers, they’re taking a full-stack approach — actuators, sensors, and AI.
Zhiyuan Robotics (智元机器人)
- Product: Humanoid robot
- Funding: $70M+ Series A
- Status: Prototype demonstrated 2025
Zhiyuan is backed by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun’s investment vehicle, giving them both capital and potential consumer electronics distribution channels.
The Critical Enablers
Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center
A government-backed research consortium that’s building the “Tien Kung” humanoid platform — essentially a reference design that other Chinese companies can build upon.
DJI (大疆创新)
The drone giant has been quietly building robotics capabilities through its RoboMaster educational platform. With their actuator and sensor expertise, a DJI consumer robot could fundamentally reshape the market.
What This Means
- China’s humanoid ecosystem is broader than the West’s — 15+ active companies vs. ~8 in the US/Europe
- Cost advantage is real — Unitree’s G1 at $16K vs. Tesla Optimus at $30K+ shows China’s manufacturing edge
- Government backing matters — The Beijing Innovation Center and local government subsidies are accelerating development
- English-language coverage is inadequate — Most of these companies have essentially zero systematic English reporting
Stay tuned to SinoBot for regular updates on all 15 companies.
